Dear CM Community,
Just ten days shy of one year ago, we had to temporarily shut our doors due to the onset of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. In the midst of a tech week, everything stopped. Set pieces still on stage, costumes still hanging on racks, props still on the prop table. At the time, we thought the temporary closure would only last a few weeks. Little did we know that a year later our stage would still be dark. With this week’s news of arts & entertainment restrictions being partially lifted, we can finally announce what we’ve been waiting a full year to say – “CM Performing Arts Center is Safely Reopening“. While we had been hoping to say those seven words for many months, saying them now is even more exciting, emotional, and meaningful.
Arts & Entertainment venues are allowed to reopen in New York on April 2nd. This seems more than coincidental because April 2nd is Good Friday this year. We can think of nothing more appropriate to reopen the organization than with presentations of Journey Cross & Crucifixion. This is how Creative Ministries began 34 years ago, a staple of CM history that tells the story of how immense darkness can turn into hopeful light through faith, love, and community.
We hope you’ll consider joining us for a very special presentation of Journey Cross & Crucifixion this Good Friday, for our upcoming spring series of shows, and for the launch of our 47th Main Stage season this summer!
