CM Performing Arts Center is seeking an Artistic Director to join our Artistic and Management team.  The Artistic Director is responsible for implementing the artistic vision and focus of the organization within the framework for the organization’s values of family, community, inclusiveness, inspiring and high-quality work.  The Artistic Director will develop programming under the direction of the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure artistic excellence.

Reports to: Executive Director, Board of Directors.

Part-Time Employee – 25 hours per week
Compensation – $25/hr

Job responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating artistic personnel including directors, designers, stage managers, choreographers, and artistic staff.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the following programs: Main Stage, Cabarets, and Special Events.
  • Maintaining quality control over CM Main Stage, Cabaret, and Special Event productions.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and Executive Director to create show budgets for each production and oversee production budgets to be sure that budgets are not overspent.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Theatre on the production of Children’s Theatre, Educational Productions and Showcases, and Touring Day Rep productions to ensure programs are provided necessary production support.
  • Collaborate with the Journey Cross & Crucifixion Director to ensure programs are provided necessary production support.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director on season show selection and present season slate and budgets at Board meeting for approval.
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing & Public Relations to support CM’s marketing initiatives, including scheduling photo shoots, content, etc., to accommodate marketing needs, under the direction of the Executive Director and the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
  • Supervise CM’s Casting process, ensuring cast calls are crafted for the widest possible response of potential cast members, that all auditions are held fairly, and that CM’s inclusivity procedures are properly implemented.
  • Act as a spokesperson for CM’s artistic purpose via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and, as requested, at fundraising events and solicitations.
  • Foster the development of good relations with other cultural organizations by participating in meetings and joint activities where appropriate.
  • Report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis to give an update on artistic activity at monthly meetings.
  • The Artistic Director will be provided with an annual job performance review by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a theatrical director.
  • Experience managing large teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership within similar organizations or institutions.
  • While a four-year degree is not required, a bachelor’s degree within theater, drama, arts administration or a related field of study is preferred.

The CM Performing Arts Center is seeking an Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive support to CM Performing Arts Center’s Executive Director, Board of Directors and Executive Team and managing special projects.

Position Type: Employee – $18-20/hr
Reports to: Executive Director

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing a broad variety of administrative tasks that facilitate the Executive Director’s ability to effectively lead the organization, including assisting with special projects, designing and producing complex documents, reports, and presentations, composing and preparing correspondence, etc.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Executive Director.
  • Working closely with the Executive Director to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.
  • Provide a bridge for smooth communication between the Executive Director and staff, demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with the Executive Team.
  • Manage Ticketing System Software by creating shows, performance dates, packages, etc. within the system.
  • Manage development of the organization’s key donor program (The Inner Circle), individual donations and corporate giving.
  • Management of special projects such as producing special events, donor parties, fundraisers, etc.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned for the overall benefit of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the performing arts is strongly recommended.
  • Experience in education and/or the non-profit sector is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage projects through completion with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

The CM Performing Arts Center is seeking a Box Office Associate.  The Box Office Associate handles front-line ticket sales, phone inquiries, and general administrative support.

Position Type:  Part Time Employee – $15/hr.
Reports to:  Box Office Manager

Responsibilities:
• Assist patrons with ticket orders in-person and over the phone.

• Answer phones and take messages.

• Complete general administrative tasks (filing, mailings, typing, etc.)

• Return voicemails and email inquiries.

• Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
 
Requirements:
• Exemplary customer services skills.
 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 
• General computer skills and ability to quickly learn our box office software.
 
• Experience in a box office, retail, sales, office, or hospitality preferred.

The Technical Theatre Instructor teaches sessions in scenic design, set construction, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, stage management, and other technical theatre disciplines for CM Summer Camps and Educational Programs.

Position Type: Part Time Employee – starting at $16/hr.

CM Performing Arts Center is seeking a costume designer for teen and educational programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Crafting Costume Plot in consultation with Director and Creative Team.
  • Pulling clothes from CM’s costume stock, purchasing, and building costumes as necessary.
  • Budgeting the costume plot to work within the given production budget.
  • Tracking show expenditures and submitting timely expense reports and receipts to bookkeeper.
  • Coordinating fittings with performers and stage manager.
  • Performing wardrobe repairs as needed.
  • Restoring costumes to CM inventory following production’s close.

Requirements:

  • Hand and machine stitching a plus.
  • Experience working with teenagers and young people.

CM Performing Arts Center is seeking stage managers for upcoming productions.

Stage managers typically:

  • Provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the audition, rehearsal and production process
  • Act as a right hand to the director
  • Oversee sets, props, lights, and sound, and
  • Call all technical cues during performances

Experience preferred.

We are looking for the following skills from applicants: organization in keeping track of logistical and scheduling details, ability to work under pressure and think on your feet, detail-oriented, problem solving, excellent communication, negotiation and decision-making skills, and a great work ethic with a positive attitude.
