Ariel (Lead, Female, 18-25)
The heroine of our story. A strong willed yet naive young woman. She loves her family, but has never felt as if she quite fits in to her world under the sea.

Casting: A strong singer and dynamic performer. Must be able to convincingly play sixteen and convey meaning through gesture and movement once she loses her voice.

Prince Eric (Lead, Male, 18-25)
A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, good-natured guy with a buoyant, adventurous nature.

Casting: A charming performer with strong acting chops.

Sebastian (Lead, Male, 25-45)
The Royal Court composer who’s been tasked to watch over Ariel. While he can be stuffy and stuck up – he’s really a ‘soft-shelled’ crab, and a true friend.

Casting: A show-stopping BIPOC triple threat performer with impeccable comedic timing. 

Ursula (Lead, Any Gender, 30-50)
The banished sea witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own.

Casting: An exhilarating performer who can bring out this villain’s humor while finding texture in Ursula’s complexity. 

Flotsam and Jetsam (Supporting, Any Gender 20-30)
Ursula’s two sinister and slippery spies. Also, not the brightest electric eels in the box. 
Vocal range top: Flotsam – C5, Jetsam – A4
Vocal range bottom: Flotsam – E3, Jetsam – B2
Casting: Two performers of similar stature, who can play menacing without being utterly terrifying. Flexibility a plus.

Flounder (Supporting, Male, 18-23)
Ariel’s most faithful friend. Although he’s tiny and scares easily, his enthusiasm is as big as the ocean.

Casting: A performer who is able to realistically portray someone who is fifteen or younger. Should play adorable, bubbly and sensitive. 

Scuttle (Supporting, Any Gender, 20-40)
The “know it all” seagull who serves as Ariel’s expert on humans. Funny and off-beat.

Vocal range bottom: C3
Casting: A performer with great comedic timing who is willing to have fun with Scuttle’s eccentricities. Tap dancing a plus.

King Triton (Supporting, Male, 35-50)
King of the sea and Ariel’s father.

Casting: Seeking a seasoned performer with a powerful voice. One who can portray a force that is to be reckoned with, while depicting that the choices he makes are to protect his family. 

Grimsby (Supporting, Male, 30-60)
Prince Eric’s prim and proper valet. He’s rigid in personality and constantly trying to guide Prince Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage.

Casting: A strong actor with an ability to play ‘prim and proper’ without being ill-natured or condescending.

Chef Louis (Cameo, Male, 25-50)
The over-the-top chef in Prince Eric’s palace. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades.

Casting: A strong, comedic performer. French accent a must. 

The Mersisters (Supporting, Female, 16-30)
Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Alana
Ariel’s siblings who are full of personality and sass. Each sister is unlike the last.

Casting: Triple-threat performers who can play six distinctive characters.

Casting: Seeking an ensemble of triple-threat performers to help create each world within the show. Roles include Sailors, Seagulls, Mer-folk, Princesses, and Chefs.
