The CM PERFORMING ARTS CENTER is holding mainstage auditions for THE PROM on Wednesday, February 15 at 7PM, and Saturday, February 18 at 4PM, with Call Backs to immediately follow on Saturday February 18 around 6PM. Please prepare a 16 – 32 bar cut of a musical theatre song in a similar style. An accompanist will be provided. A dance audition will follow vocal auditions for those asked to stay. Please wear footwear you are comfortable in, sneakers are recommended.

Performance dates are below. Please bring possible rehearsal and/or performance conflicts to the auditions. Plot Synopsis:

Four fading Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town Indiana prom—and the press is involved—they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. Now, Broadway’s brassiest are coming to join the fight and they are ready to kick-ball-change the world.

Character Breakdown: 

 

EMMA NOLAN: A teenager in Indiana. A reluctant poster child for LGBT youth. Very smart. A bit of a tomboy quality. Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, vocal range G3 – D5.

 

ALYSSA GREENE: A cheerleader and top student. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend. Faces constant pressure from her mother and friends. Alto, Mezzo-Soprano, vocal range G#3 -D5.

 

  1. HAWKINS: The straitlaced school principal. An ally to Emma and a long-time fan of Dee Dee. Baritone, Bass-Baritone, vocal range G2 – C4.

 

MRS. GREENE: Alyssa’s intimidating, conservative, but ultimately loving mother. The head of the PTA. Alto, vocal range G#3 – C5.

 

BARRY GLICKMAN: Flamboyant Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Longs to give Emma the prom he was unable to have as a teen. Baritone, Tenor, vocal range B2 – F#4

 

DEE DEE ALLEN: A Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. Hilariously self-involved, but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself. Alto, vocal range F#3 – C5.

 

TRENT OLIVER: Pretentious Juilliard graduate recently cast in the non- Equity tour of Godspell. Loves to hear himself speak. Baritone, Tenor, vocal range D3 – G4.

 

ANGIE DICKINSON: An ensemble member in the Broadway production of Chicago. Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Alto, vocal range G#3 – C5.

 

SHELDON SAPERSTEIN: A charismatic press agent.

 

ENSEMBLE: Strong Singer/Dancers and Dancer/Singers of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ethnicities.
